Ferrari was the closest challenger to Red Bull at the start of the season. Despite the strong start, their form dipped and they slumped below McLaren. On the other hand, the race in Italy, showcased the prancing horses’ prowess as Charles Leclerc emerged victorious. However, team principal Fred Vasseur insisted that drawing conclusions from Ferrari’s Monza outing would be a huge mistake.

McLaren locked out the front row at Ferrari’s home, which raised questions at the Italian outfit for not being at the sharp end. Charles Leclerc started the race from the second row. In a bid to turn his fortune, the Monegasque gambled on a one-stop strategy along with Carlos Sainz which paid dividends as the 26-year-old took the chequered flag while fending off McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

Despite Ferrari winning its home race, Fred Vasseur remained realistic as he claimed making conclusions from the race in Monza could be a huge blunder.

I think it would be a huge mistake to try to draw any conclusions or to change the plan [after victory at Monza]. There is a very long way to go until Abu Dhabi, there is something like 450 points on the table. It’s so tight, the fight – honestly, I spent a couple of years on the pit wall but it’s the first time I think in F1 we have this situation where eight drivers can win the race, without an accident or crash.
Fred Vasseur said in an interview as quoted by RacingNews365

The Frenchman knew the performance delta of the special upgrade package that Ferrari brought to Monza. Moreover, he insisted that a huge haul of points remained untapped as there are still eight race weekends before the end of the season, so any of the top four teams could take away points.

Charles Leclerc claims he has full faith in Fred Vasseur’s leadership

Though Vassuer joined Maranello last year, he has had a huge impact on the whole team. The 56-year-old played a crucial role in swooping Lewis Hamilton away from Mercedes and has also made major structural changes within Ferrari.

Subsequently, witnessing the Frenchman’s leadership prowess, Leclerc insisted he’s always had full faith in what Vassuer has been doing.

First, to try and understand every single individual within the team, to try and understand the situation and to put them in the best possible conditions in order to extract the maximum out of each individual. He's very emotionally flat and that is a really good thing for a team like Ferrari. That’s what is needed in Ferrari, so I’m completely confident and I have full trust in what Fred[Vassuer] does.
Charles Leclerc said on the Beyond The Grid podcast

The Monegasque elaborated that Vasseur understands how every person behaves in the team and understands their strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, the 56-year-old remains emotionally flat and realistic to make sure the team focuses on the goal.

On the other hand, Ferrari currently stands third in the constructor’s standings with a 40-point gap to Red Bull. Thus, they could make inroads in the upcoming rounds to catapult themselves ahead of their arch-nemesis, despite having a few torrid weekends earlier.
