Lewis Hamilton‘s late-career switch to Ferrari provided the Italian constructor with hopes of competing for the championship in the coming season. The Scuderia hasn’t tasted a championship victory since the 2007, when Kimi Raikkonen defeated then rookie Hamilton. Amidst the ongoing preparations for the British racer at Ferrari, ex-Hass F1 boss Guenther Steiner has made a bold and hilarious remark on a potential title victory.

Lewis Hamilton is expected to enter the Italian constructor and take them to monumental heights once again. Guenther Steiner labeled Hamilton as a GOAT (greatest of all time) following his highly successful career in Formula 1. Subsequently, the sacked Haas boss questioned what more the seven-time world champion could achieve. Steiner joked that the Briton would end up in the ‘Vatican’ if he were to win a championship for Ferrari as well.

He’s already a GOAT [greatest of all time]. He’s won seven championships. What more can he do? He must say this, he can win my eighth, maybe, if you’re doing a good job at Ferrari. If he win my eighth, or win a championship for Ferrari, the guy will end up in the Vatican!

Guenther Steiner said on the Beyond the Grid podcast.

Steiner believes that Lewis Hamilton had hopes of contending for the championship victory with Ferrari. Hamilton would attempt his best to bring the Italian constructor back to winning the championships in Formula 1. He labeled this to be the Briton’s ‘drive’ as one of the reasons behind joining the prancing horses.

I think he wants to try to do the magic, to bring Ferrari back to winning championships, and that, I think, is his drive.

Guenther Steiner claimed Formula 1 without Ferrari is ‘not Formula 1’

Ferrari enjoys one of the richest history ever in Formula 1 after joining the sport since its inception in 1950. Guenther Steiner believed that Ferrari was not the same without Formula 1 and vice versa. He further claimed that joining the Reds as a driver was something special for anyone on the grid, especially Hamilton.

I think Ferrari without Formula 1 is not Ferrari, and Formula 1 without Ferrari is not Formula 1. It’s just this magic the Prancing Horse carries, and if you have the chance to be part of it as a driver, it’s something special.

Guenther Steiner noted.

The 2024 season has been inconsistent for Ferrari after a failed chance at championship contention. However, with six more races to go, the Italian constructor would attempt their best to improve their position in the pecking order. Additionally, Maranello will start the preparations to make way for Lewis Hamilton by the coming season.
