2021 was the year when the world of Formula 1 was turned upside down! Going into the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi with all on the line, title contenders Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen geared up for one last nasty brawl out on the racing track.
The competition was fierce during the race, and the closing stages of the event led to circumstances that were not expected by anyone. Then race director Michael Masi made some extremely controversial decisions following then-Williams driver Nicholas Latifi’s crash that ultimately led to Max Verstappen winning the driver’s championship out of nowhere.
To date, people have controversial options regarding the race. While the incident is going to remain fresh in people’s memories for quite some time, the Ex-Haas boss Guenther Steiner has recently deemed it a legendary moment in F1.
George Russell blasts ‘beast’ W15 following Lewis Hamilton’ COTA DNF
Since losing out on the eight world championships in F1 in 2021, Lewis Hamilton has had a struggle in the sport and it has continued this year as well. He had a shocking DNF at last week’s race and following that, his Mercedes teammate George Russell has brutally blasted the inconsistent W15.
Hamilton’s COTA outing came to a very early end as the Brit lost control of his car and beached it on the gravel.
Hamilton has jumped ship to Ferrari from 2025 onwards. The seven-time world champion is hoping to add the record-breaking title with the Italian team and this has pretty much stemmed from the struggles of Mercedes since 2022.
The 39-year-old believes that his chances of securing a title are higher with Ferrari as compared to the Mercedes F1 team. The Fred Vasseur-led outfit has been on a mighty rise during the ongoing season and is very much in the fight for the coveted 2024 constructors’ championship.
