F1 is extremely famous for its exhilarating/wild racing action. In recent years, the sport has grown 10-fold in terms of popularity, and while the on-track antics are a big reason behind it, so are the different personalities within the paddock.
The Netflix Drive to Survive star/Ex-Haas boss, Guenther Steiner is a prime example of it. The Italian-American since getting relieved of his duties as the leader of the Kannapolis-based team has started pursuing a career in media, and recently, during a podcast, he surprisingly deemed Toto Wolff as the funniest man in the F1 paddock.
The Mercedes boss usually does not come across as a person with the ‘funny bones.’
Podcast host: Who is the funniest person in the paddock excluding yourself, obviously? Steiner: I would say, Toto, he is pretty funny. Podcast host: Really? Steiner: Yeah, you guys don't see that. You guys don't see that. The guy is pretty funny, you know.Guenther Steiner via the Red Flags Podcast
Steiner’s choice for the funniest man in the paddock is going to come across as a bit of a shock among the F1 community. However, it seems that Wolff is an altogether different kind of personality away from the limelight.
Toto Wolff feels Mercedes has a car that can ‘perform’
While Steiner has taken the time to name Wolff as a funny bloke, the latter’s team has been doing wonders during the 2024 F1 season. Mercedes managed to amass victories in last three of the four races before the summer break.
Keeping the upward trajectory in view, the Austrian genuinely feels his team now has a car that can compete at the very front.
We also have two top drivers that are able to make that happen. We have more work to do to be in the fight for victory every weekend. We have made good steps forward and we have a car that can perform near the front of the field.Toto Wolff via Mercedesamgf1
The Brackley-based team is currently in fourth place in the 2024 Constructors Championship. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are in top form and if Wolff and Co. can keep improving the 15 during the upcoming second half, the outfit will have an extremely good chance of finishing the campaign well within the top three. Several eyes will be glued on them from Zandvoort onwards.
