Max Verstappen‘s impressive performances in recent years have enabled his valuation to grow multifold. The Dutchman’s dominant performances attracted some significant offers from rivals’ teams. Red Bull’s performance struggle in the 2024 season has motivated Aston Martin to reportedly offer the 27-year-old a mega contract.
Aston Martin’s alleged recent interest in Max Verstappen, a deal worth over $1 billion, took the internet by storm. Verstappen’s team had a blunt answer to the rumors of him switching teams after receiving such a lucrative offer. However, ex-F1 team boss Guenther Steiner believed that the 27-year-old should take the deal even if he finished in last with the constructor.
Steiner pointed out the fact that a majority of the teams did not have the financial backing to acquire Verstappen in their squads. However, Aston Martin was able to poach the Dutchman from Red Bull even if it meant the team had to pay over a Billion dollars. The Italian American accepted that this deal was somewhat ‘fictional’ despite Silverstone being ready to pay the amount.
Guenther Steiner dismissed Lawrence Stroll sacking Lance Stroll for Max Verstappen
Aston Martin’s part-owner Lawrence Stroll has provided his son Lance Stroll with a seat in his team for a very long time. Stroll Jr. despite performing poorly for the majority of his career, has the seat on the team due to his father’s financial backing.
Guenther Steiner believed that this wouldn’t change even if a world champion like Max Verstappen were to enter the team. Steiner further made a ‘blood is thicker than water’ remark over the possibility of ousting the Canadian for the Dutchman.
Verstappen’s current focus lies on continuing his performances with Red Bull despite the incessant struggles. The Dutchman has showcased his loyalty to Milton Keynes on multiple occasions and is likely to retire as a Red Bull driver. Regardless, the coming season will be enticing as multiple teams seem ready for championship contention.
