Lewis Hamilton faced a lot of bullying and racism during his junior karting days due to his skin color. The Briton revealed how he couldn’t even cry in front of his father during his childhood days. The seven-time world champion noted that he had some struggles with his mental health back when he was 20 years old. Additionally, he claimed that he had depression from a very early age.

When I was in my 20s, I had some really difficult phases. I mean, I’ve struggled with mental health through my life. [I’ve had] depression. From a very early age, when I was, like, 13. I think it was the pressure of the racing and struggling at school. The bullying. I had no one to talk to.

Lewis Hamilton tried multiple methods to overcome the depression and mental health battles. However, a particular method helped the Briton better than the rest of the self-help activities. The seven-time world champion recalled that waking up at 5 am and meditating before a run was a great way to calm down his mind.

I would struggle initially to calm my mind, But it’s a really great way of getting in touch with myself, my inner feelings, understanding what I can do.
