Lando Norris suffered from massive ups and downs in the 2025 season, especially against Max Verstappen. The Dutchman still lost out on the title at the end by just two points to Norris. Now, the 1997 F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve reveals Norris’ attitude change that helped him win his maiden driver’s title against Verstappen in the 2025 season.

Lando Norris was able to perform well when it mattered the most and won the driver’s title against all odds at the end. Max Verstappen achieved the most race wins over the season but still lost the championship. Meanwhile, Norris kept his head in the game despite the massive hate and backlash towards him over the race weekends.

Jacques Villeneuve recalled how Lando Norris was very critical of himself at the beginning of the 2025 season. Though Norris believed that being self-critical helped him improve results, he changed this aspect in the latter half. Villeneuve reckoned that the Briton had many changes in him throughout the season. The Canadian pointed out that this change in attitude helped the 26-year-old turn around his results.

Further, Jacques Villeneuve highlighted that Lando Norris stopped apologizing for little things towards the end of the 2025 season. The Briton focused on the goal, which was to beat his rivals for the title. As soon as things did not go Norris’ way, he made many changes in his personality and attitude, and ultimately started performing much better to win the title at the end.

But we also saw quite a change in him during the season, Early in the season, he was always berating himself a lot. And that stopped in the second half. We saw a change of attitude as well. He stopped apologising for things, and he actually focused on what needed to be done. Once he wasn’t in the championship lead anymore, once things went backwards, and once the fight became a fight against Max.

Jacques Villeneuve told PokerScout.

Lando Norris drove at a ‘very good level’ in the 2025 season

Lando Norris proved the haters wrong on the grid and performed at the highest level to win the driver’s title at the end of the season. The Briton has etched his name in the record books and will aim to keep up with the winning streak. As such, Jacques Villeneuve applauded the ‘great level’ that the 26-year-old drove at in the 2025 season.

Jacques Villeneuve highlighted that Lando Norris had been in Formula 1 for quite some time and built a lot of experience. The Briton honed his skill well and won the title at the end of the season. Norris proved that he was capable of driving at a ‘very good level’ in the final few races. Now, the 24-year-old needed to keep up with the same consistency throughout the 24 races of a year.

He’s been in F1 for quite a long time now, so he has experience, he honed his skill, and at the end of the season, he drove like he did at the end of last season. That’s his very good level. What he has to work on is keeping it going all year, for 24 races.

Jacques Villeneuve noted.

McLaren certainly has put forth a sensational performance in the final years of the ground-effect era. Lando Norris still has to ensure consistency in results to keep up with rivals, especially Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. Though the new regulations will be a massive unknown, no single team seems to be the clear favorite for now.
