Sergio Perez once again performed poorly at the dramatic Hungarian GP. The topic of Perez’s continuity at Red Bull is a persistent conversation in the Formula 1 paddock. The Mexican had failed to perform in the past six Qualifying sessions and last weekend’s race was one of them. Jacques Villeneuve claims Red Bull will succeed only if they replace Sergio Perez next season.
During a recent interview Jacques Villeneuve talked about Sergio Perez’s poor performance from the last few races. He mentioned that currently, there is no suitable replacement for Perez in the Red Bull family. He pointed out that Yuki Tsunoda is too volatile and inconsistent, even though he has shown some improvement in his driving. Choosing Tsunoda will put them in a risky situation.
In the Red Bull family right now, there is no suitable replacement for Sergio Perez. Yuki Tsunoda is still a volatile driver, he is a bit more controlled than in the past but he is still inconsistent.Jacques Villeneuve said, as reported by SoyMotor.com
Villeneuve noted that Liam Lawson is the next possibility after Tsunoda to replace Checo. However, he reckoned Lawson lacks the necessary experience to step into such a high-pressure role. This raised doubts about Lawson’s ability to meet Red Bull’s high demands and expectations in such a competitive situation. The 53-year-old stated that according to him the only driver Perez could be replaced by is Carlos Sainz. He acknowledged, the Spaniard has the capability of filling Perez’s shoes at Red Bull.
Liam Lawson does not have the experience to replace him, we do not know if he can take that step. My best bet to replace Perez at Red Bull is Carlos Sainz.Jacques Villeneuve stated.
Jacques Villeneuve claims Red Bull should ‘rebuild’ with Carlos Sainz
Jacques Villeneuve reckoned Carlos Sainz is an excellent teammate and performs well no matter which team he drives for. He believed Sainz’s consistent and reliable performance has made him a valuable asset to any team. The Spaniard’s adaptability and consistent results make the ex-champion see him as a strong candidate to replace Perez. With Sainz left seatless at Ferrari due to Lewis Hamilton replacing him. The 53-year-old thought Red Bull had a great opportunity to consider the Spaniard before he makes further decisions about his future.
Sainz is a great teammate who performs for any team he drives for.Jacques Villeneuve stated.
Further, Villeneuve added that the energy drink giant needs to make changes and improve their team at the moment. Bringing Carlos Sainz would be a great first step in that process. The Spaniard’s skills and experience would help Red Bull start rebuilding their team effectively. His addition could strengthen the team and can help win Constructors Championship where they’re lacking currently due to checo.
Red Bull needs to rebuild right now, Sainz would be a great first step in that rebuild.Jacques Villeneuve added.
Certainly, The 1997 F1 world champion stated that replacing Perez with Sainz could do a favor to Red Bull’s success in future. Carlos Sainz has what it takes to drive the best car and he is optimistic about the Spaniard’s performance.
