F1 has been surging in popularity in the US recently. America now holds three races on its soil in a single calendar year and the craze of the sport has even gotten to Vice President Kamala Harris, who revealed that MercedesLewis Hamilton was her favorite racer on the grid.

Lewis Hamilton made his F1 debut in 2007 and he quickly rose to fame. He won his maiden championship in his sophomore year and later, in his stint with Mercedes, he won six more driver’s titles, which made him the favorite driver for millions of fans worldwide.

On the other hand, the Republican leader in the US, Donald Trump, has been a fond supporter of Lando Norris. Thus, the two political enemies seem to have vast juxtaposition in their favorite drivers as one is already a seven-time champion while the other is fighting for his first title against the might of Max Verstappen this year.

Lewis Hamilton asserts the importance of racing in Africa

There has been a dilemma in the F1 world recently as the U.S.A. currently hosts three races and there’s talk of adding more. On the other hand, Africa does not host a single race in the season, with the last race there held over three decades ago.

This has led Hamilton to question Formula One Management (FOM) multiple times before and has stressed the importance of racing in Africa.

We can’t be adding races in other locations and continue to ignore Africa, which the rest of the world takes from. No one gives anything to Africa

Lewis Hamilton said in an interview with The Guardian

Despite the Brit’s push to race in Africa, FOM has often turned a blind eye towards the continent. However, recent progress has been made as rumors suggest that F1 might be closing in on a deal with the Kyalami track in South Africa.

On the track, Hamilton has been having a decent 2024 season with two race wins under his belt. However, his ambitions to drive the Ferrari in the post-season test might be ruined as Mercedes would not like to aid its arch-nemesis in any way.
