Kimi Antonelli debuted in Formula 1 with Mercedes in the 2025 season after replacing seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. Many people believed that Antonelli was set up for failure and would crack under pressure at Brackley. However, the rookie has scored very impressive results and is currently ahead of Hamilton in the drivers’ standings. Now, after the pressure of a good debut is off Antonelli, he issued a hilarious take on the drivers he would pick for a party.
Kimi Antonelli is still very young and has become acquainted with the Formula 1 drivers only after his debut in the 2025 season. As such, the Italian isn’t very good friends with a lot of people on the grid. Regardless, many drivers like Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso are known for their heartwarming attitude towards the newbies on the grid. This point was proved further after Antonelli picked them to be his favorites for partying with over Lewis Hamilton.
The 18-year-old was asked to pick out the drivers he would enjoy a dinner with. While many drivers like Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are often spotted partying in clubs, Antonelli surprisingly picked none of them. The Italian chose Fernando Alonso after viewing a picture of him partying with George Russell at during New Year’s Eve two years ago. The rookie labeled the 43-year-old as the ‘right guy’ to party with.
A lot to choose [from]! I would say Fernando [Alonso]… I saw a picture of him with George [Russell] in a disco not a long time ago, and he looks like the right guy to party with.
Kimi Antonelli told Formula 1
Antonelli further made an abnormal but not surprising pick for partying with. The 18-year-old chose the reigning world champion Max Verstappen and did not even think about including Lewis Hamilton. Although Verstappen likes to keep to himself and not indulge in partying much, he has been spotted numerous times in clubs. Moreover, the four-time champion has a liking towards the Italian as he often talks with the youngster on the grid.
Definitely those two, and then… I would take Max [Verstappen]. He looks like a good one as well for parties.

Kimi Antonelli reveals next dream job if Formula 1 doesn’t work out
Kimi Antonelli excelled in the junior categories leading up to Formula 1 and is performing well at the pinnacle of motorsport as well. Hence, there is no doubt over the 18-year-old’s successful career in F1 in the coming years. However, Antonelli has also thought about his future if the motorsport career did not work out.

Antonelli pointed out that he would like to be a car designer and design his own car if he didn’t race in Formula 1. Also, he would love to design his own house. Apart from car designing, the 18-year-old also has a particular liking towards Basketball and the NBA. As such, he would also want to try his hand at the American sport for at least a day and see if he would fit there better. Regardless, the Italian need not think about an alternate career as he has made his mark in Formula 1 and will only go up from here.
I would like to be a car designer, so designing my own car, or designing my own house! I would like to be an NBA [basketball] player for a day. I’ve really got passionate into NBA. I’ve never watched a game [in person], but I’m really looking forward to when we’re going to be racing in the US.
Kimi Antonelli noted
