The world of Formula 1 has seen several top names enter the sport since its inception in 1950. The late Ayrton Senna is to date seen as a bit of a god because of his past exploits. Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is another driver who is also worshipped by the fans.

However, despite the craze for such legends among the F1 community, Lando Norris has deemed Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen as the all-time greats. While explaining his reasoning for the same he had the following to add.

I don’t know about the old guys. I didn’t witness any of them. I have to go with the ones I know. That’s Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Looking at the reaction of the McLaren driver, it is understandable why he went for Verstappen and Hamilton. After Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher, the only drivers who have made a huge impression on the sport are the reigning world champion and the most successful driver in the sport, Hamilton.

McLaren wants to be in a ‘position to win’ in the coming years

While Lando Norris has revealed his pick for the greatest of all time in F1, McLaren is determined to keep up its upward trajectory. Team boss Andrea Stella has asserted that his team wants to be in a position to win in the coming years.

The Woking-based team is leading the 2024 constructors’ championship but has lost out on the golden opportunity for the drivers’. However, they are determined to change this in the near future.

I can’t know if we will win this season, but I am aware that we want to be in a position to win in ’25, ’26 and ’27. And if in managing the 2024 season I end up destroying the balance, I will end up not having a solid base in the following years.

The 2025 F1 season is being seen by many as one of the most competitive in the recent history of the sport. The fight has been cut-throat this year only and with the regulations remaining the same for next year, fireworks can be expected up and down the grid.

Moreover, from McLaren’s perspective, they will be in for an out-and-out brawl next year. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be required to bring their absolute A-game against the other heavy hitters of the sport.
