The whole Formula 1 grid was bidding farewell to Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes as he looks to join Ferrari in 2025. The Briton was spotted having an emotional moment with the team as he wouldn’t race as a Silver Arrow ever again. However, Lando Norris wasn’t too happy with this as he took a subtle dig at people wishing adieu to the 39-year-old.

Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton had some heated moments in the 2024 season while the former enjoyed dominance in performance. Despite the on-track issues, both drivers have never clashed heads and maintained a good respectful relationship. Even Norris bade farewell to the Ferrari-bound driver over the weekend.

Speaking of all the farewell activities by the teams and drivers, Norris wasn’t too impressed. The 25-year-old reckoned that it was like everyone was bidding Hamilton adieu from Formula 1 as a whole. However, the Briton reiterated that the 39-year-old was just changing teams and was going to stay on the grid for a couple of years.

Racing for Ferrari and retiring as their driver is a massive feat for anyone in Formula 1 due to the team’s history. Following Lewis Hamilton’s move, Lando Norris guessed the reasons behind the shocking switch. The Briton highlighted that everyone wanted to go to the Italian team at some point in their career. This was true even for Hamilton as he ended his journey of over 12 years with Brackley.

Everyone wants to go to Ferrari at some point in their career, I think it’s something very special. I think it is something everyone wants to tick off in their life. Even Lewis, you know who’s grown up and been part of Mercedes since he was a kid.

Ferrari’s improvement in performance will be a positive point for Hamilton in the coming season. The seven-time world champion is expected to take the Italian constructor back to their glory days. Hence, time will tell about how the multi-year contract pans out for the 39-year-old in Formula 1.
