Lando Norris' hopes of an apology from Max Verstappen seem futile as the Dutch driver continues to push the limits on-track.

Lando Norris as emerged as the main contender to Max Verstappen for the 2024 F1 title. The British driver even won the Miami GP this year. However, Norris and Verstappen collided while fighting for the lead in Austria. The McLaren driver signaled that he wanted the Dutchman to apologize and take responsibility for the incident.
Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are close friends. However, Norris admitted that their friendship could be at risk if the Dutchman does not take the blame for the crash. On the other hand, Verstappen made it clear that he will review the footage and talk to the McLaren driver once things had calmed down without giving even a hint of an apology.
Despite their strong bond off-track, they are two fierce racing drivers who hate to lose. Former Red Bull driver David Coulthard even claimed that hell would freeze over before Max Verstappen takes blame for this crash. As such, it might be time for Lando Norris to forget about an apology from the reigning world champion altogether.
Lando Norris needs to understand Max Verstappen will never back down
Max Verstappen is a hard racer. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner even claimed that Verstappen will not change and its Norris who needs to learn how to race against the Dutchman. Certainly, many would agree with this statement.
Lewis Hamilton battled Verstappen for the 2021 title with multiple racing incidents and collisions. However, the seven-time world champion knew how the Dutchman would race and remained persistent. Similarly, even Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has had on-track battles with Max Verstappen, without ever asking for an apology.
On the other hand, Lando Norris seems to be almost deluded in thinking that Verstappen will apologize straight after such an incident. The two drivers will be meeting up to discuss the clash. However, it is likely that such battles will only increase heading into the remainder of the 2024 season.
Certainly, Max Verstappen has never changed his racing style and is unlikely to do so now. While Lando Norris will need to accept the Dutchman’s hard nature and work on his own driving if he wants to win the 2024 F1 title. It is better for the Briton to completely forget about an apology and focus on pushing himself to the limit.
