The Spanish GP weekend is underway. The Barcelona track is one of the most challenging circuits on the F1 calendar. It was a close battle for pole position in Qualifying. McLaren’s Lando Norris came out on top after managing to defeat Max Verstappen to finish first at the end of the session.

After the session, Lando Norris reflected upon his performance. The British driver claimed that he put in a perfect lap during his final run in Q3 which allowed him to take pole. The McLaren driver highlighted that he was excited in his cockpit as he knew it was going to be the perfect lap of the session.

It was pretty much a perfect lap. You know you are on a perfect lap when you get excited.

Moreover, Lando Norris labeled this to be the best pole position of his career. Norris had previously clinched pole at the 2021 Russian GP. Although, the McLaren driver has taken pole positions in junior categories before making his way to Formula 1.

Max Verstappen will start the Spanish GP right beside Norris. With Lewis Hamilton managing to secure the third grid slot. As such, fans could expect to see a thrilling contest at the start of the race. However, Lando Norris remains determined on converting his pole position into a race victory.

The McLaren driver highlighted that the Woking-based team had shown impressive pace in the past two months. Norris emphasized that he was delighted to be on pole for the race on Sunday. The Briton admitted that it was going to be tough to win against Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Nevertheless, Lando Norris declared that McLaren was here to win.

We've been quick the last two months, since Miami we've been very strong. Super happy to be on pole. I know it will be tough against Max, against Lewis but we are here to win now.

Certainly, Norris would be aiming to win his second race of the season in Barcelona. However, the battle at the front is extremely close, even a single mistake could make the difference. As such, it remains to be seen if Lando Norris manages to out-race Verstappen and Hamilton in the Grand Prix.
