The battle for the 2024 championship has been an unexpected one. With Lando Norris and Max Verstappen fighting tooth and nail for the driver’s title, the title giants have not been the cleanest ones while racing wheel-to-wheel. A similar incident was seen at the Mexico GP, where the McLaren driver was forced off the track ruthlessly causing Norris to lament the Dutchman’s driving as dangerous over the radio.
Max Verstappen made an impressive start on lap one. After starting from the front row, he overtook pole-sitter Carlos Sainz in the run down to turn one. However, after the Safety Car period was over, the reigning champion was not able to pull away from the hunting Spaniard, who overtook Verstappen with a bold lunge into turn one. This helped Lando Norris to catch up to his championship rival and aim to move past him.
On the contrary, his expectations were ruined by a similar incident that happened in Austin. The Briton was forced off the track at turn four by the Dutchman. This infuriated Norris who labeled Verstappen as dangerous for his driving.
Though the 24-year-old was unhappy with the 27-year-old’s actions, he would have been delighted by the news of Verstappen receiving two 10-second penalties. Furthermore, the penalties could end up costing the Dutchman a huge haul of points if the subsequent laps lack some action at the front.

On the other hand, as expected, any driver would not be happy with the sight of receiving penalties from the FIA. Moreover, Verstappen was not any different and reckoned that he was innocent in the whole ordeal.
Subsequently, when his race engineer revealed that he received another 10-second penalty for his antics with Norris, the 27-year-old lamented the penalties by claiming that they were silly.
As it stands, Ferrari is anticipated to dominate the Mexico GP and is looking set to make a major dent in the constructor’s standings. On the driver’s end, the McLaren driver is projected to outscore his Dutch rival by a substantial margin, which could aid him down the line.
