The 2024 Formula 1 extravaganza has reached the ever-sparkling Las Vegas. The second appearance of the Grand Prix is just around the corner and ahead of the event, Alpine driver Pierre Gasly has taken a slight jibe at McLaren’s Lando Norris over his title challenge against Max Verstappen.

The reigning world champion is currently 62 points ahead of Lando Norris in the drivers’ championship. Moreover, the ongoing campaign has only three races remaining on the calendar.

Fair play to him, it’s not easy to beat Max. I think Lewis and Lando can agree to that. He’s just put on an extremely strong season again.

Looking at the reaction of the former teammate of Verstappen, he has showered huge praise on the latter. Moreover, he has even gone on to take a slight dig at Lewis Hamilton‘s 2021, and Norris’ this year’s failed attempts against the Dutchman.

Helmut Marko in awe of Max Verstappen’s 2024 heroics

While Pierre Gasly has killed two birds with one stone with his interesting comments, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has also bowed down to the might of Max Verstappen. The 27-year-old has performed incredibly well in an inconsistent RB20 during the ongoing campaign.

Verstappen has so far managed to put on board an extremely strong 393 points.

Our car was fast in the dry in Brazil, although Max was in a class of his own in the rain. If we win the title again this year, it will be mainly down to Max. With his exceptional driving skills, he has covered up the phases in which the car was really not good.

The 2024 campaign is 21 rounds down and Verstappen has been one of the standout performers. He has faced a bit of criticism for his antics on the racing track but his aggressive nature is what makes him hard to tackle during Grand Prix’s.

Norris has got a decent dose of that so far in the campaign and he could get treated to a bit of the same in the remaining races. Las Vegas provides several overtaking opportunities and considering this, fireworks could go off between the two title contenders.
