Lando Norris shuts down critics over negative high pressure impact
Lando Norris made it clear that he did not see any negative side of facing high pressure situations in Formula 1.

Lando Norris has gained a reputation in the F1 paddock for not being able to withstand pressure. The British driver was often too harsh on himself over the course of the 2024 season. Now, the 25-year-old has hit back at critics, claiming that such pressure only makes him better.
Norris struggled against Max Verstappen in the battle for the 2024 championship. Critics claimed that the Briton’s self-critical mindset was doing no good for his results. So much so, that Nico Rosberg even suggested that the McLaren driver should seek professional help.
Lando Norris acknowledged that many consider the pressure to be a bad thing for his performance. However, Norris insisted that its rather the opposite. the 25-year-old emphasized that he has only improved his results when he is put under more pressure. Moreover, he claimed that he found it easier to focus in such situations.
I think I’ve said in some interviews over the last month or so or a few weeks that a lot of people think that pressure is a bad thing. But for me, it’s really the opposite. It’s a good thing. I’ve always done much better under pressure. I’m able to think and to focus much more under pressure.

Verstappen was confronted with Norris’ statements on high pressure situations. The four-time world champion acknowledged the point made by his rival. Though, the Dutch driver emphasized that Lando Norris needs to be positive as he can’t sit and put himself in a bad mood over such scenarios.

Lando Norris could learn from Max Verstappen. The latter does a far better job in remaining unbothered and focusing simply on his on-track results. This difference in mindset might be what sets the two drivers apart. However, it remains to be seen if Norris can turn things around in the upcoming season. While Verstappen aims for a fifth title in a row.
