Max Verstappen and Lando Norris had a fierce battle during the Mexican GP, resulting in the former getting penalties amounting to 20 seconds. The two drivers fought hard for position, with Verstappen refusing to let Norris pass, causing a near collision.
Their intense braking and high speeds created smoke and dust, adding to the drama. When he saw the dust, Lewis Hamilton said that he knew how was responsible for it.
In Mexico, Hamilton struggled with a serious decline in performance, especially during qualifying, where he couldn’t reach his peak. He managed to finish sixth despite Mercedes’ new package failing to deliver.
In the race, by lap 10, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris engaged in an intense duel, echoing their recent battle in Austin. Lewis Hamilton, who was trailing them, saw the smoke at Turn 4 and immediately suspected Verstappen was behind it.
Controversy over the duel between Verstappen and Norris sparked debate, with opinions split. Some supported the former, arguing that the 20-second penalty was too harsh, especially since Norris received only a five-second penalty for a similar incident in Austin.
Lewis Hamilton claims Max Verstappen’s aggressive driving is ‘over the limit’
Max Verstappen’s attack on Lando Norris in Mexico was so brutal that it prompted the Brit to shout “dangerous” on team radio. He refused to let Norris pass at that turn, pushing him off, which clearly crossed the line.
Reflecting on this, Lewis Hamilton explained that throughout his racing career, he has encountered various drivers who drive fiercely without regard for collisions, and Verstappen is one of them. He also stated that in the past, he had close calls with the Dutchman due to his aggressive approach.
Despite facing criticism from many drivers and pundits in the paddock, Max Verstappen remains unchanged. He asserted that he won’t alter his driving style in the next four races as the competition intensifies.
