Lando Norris has officially become the next British driver’s champion after Lewis Hamilton won the latest championship back in 2020. Hamilton dominated for many years before the ground-effect era proved to be extremely difficult for him.
As such, the seven-time champion did not have the best of relations with Norris, with the latter making some brutal comments about his fellow Englishman. Now, despite the past beef, the 40-year-old has congratulated the McLaren driver on his maiden title win.
Lewis Hamilton performed at the pinnacle of his career before the beginning of the ground-effect era in 2022. The Briton dominated the rivals on track, coupled with an impressive challenger from Mercedes.
However, during Hamilton’s struggling time in the recent generation, Lando Norris made some smug comments about the 40-year-old and his dominant days being in the past.
Despite these comments, Lewis Hamilton has shared his honest opinion on Lando Norris’ maiden driver’s title win in Formula 1. The 40-year-old, who has been suffering from an abysmal year with Ferrari, has not hesitated to congratulate his fellow Briton on his success in the 2025 season. Funnily enough, Norris is the first champion for McLaren after Hamilton achieved success for the Papaya Squad back in 2008.
Lewis Hamilton noted that he was really happy for Lando Norris as he achieved this impressive feat. Hamilton continued that winning his first title was certainly impressive.
Further, the 40-year-old reckoned that the UK continued to pump out impressive drivers in motorsport. The seven-time champion recalled that he had congratulated Norris all throughout the weekend and asked him to never change, regardless of what the haters said.
I am really happy for him. Winning your first world title is special, and UK continues to pump out talented drivers. I am really proud of him. I have told him before the weekend, what he has been doing is great, and don’t change it.
Lewis Hamilton said in a post-race interview.

Lewis Hamilton aims to “not speak to anyone” during the winter break
Lewis Hamilton has finally finished one of the worst seasons in his racing career with Ferrari. The Briton suffered from the worst results and ended the season without even a podium finish to his name.

Despite continuous attempts, Hamilton couldn’t achieve a turnaround in results and scored some of the worst records in his career. Now, the 40-year-old aims to go completely offline over the winter break and not talk to anyone for some time.
Lewis Hamilton pointed out that he was looking forward to the break currently. Hamilton didn’t want to talk to anyone and aimed to completely disconnect from the internet and the media.
The Briton continued that no one would be able to get hold of him, as he was looking forward to not even having his phone with him. The 40-year-old concluded that he would just unplug from the matrix and not make any appearances in public.
At the moment I’m only looking forward to the break. Just disconnecting. Not speaking to anyone. No one’s going to be able to get a hold of me this winter. I won’t have my phone with me. I’m looking forward to that. Just completely unplugged from the matrix.
