Max Verstappen claims Red Bull needs to work hard to gain fine margin improvements
During the press conference, Max Verstappen explained that his focus wasn’t solely on personal gain but rather on improving the teams performance. He felt their car wasn’t the fastest anymore and desired for the work to be done on increasing its speed. Verstappen highlighted the team’s need for continuous effort to make small, crucial improvements that could impact their performance on the track.
I'm not really thinking about myself, I want more performance because we're not quickest at the moment, that's why I have to push till the end.Max Verstappen said, as reported by SkySportsF1
Further, Max Verstappen mentioned during Spanish GP if he hadn’t passed Lando Norris at the beginning of the race, he would’ve finished in second place. He highlighted how small differences can determine race results. Verstappen reckoned, they need to consistently be fastest to win the race, which they’re struggling with currently. This is necessary for improving their speed to achieve more victories in future races.
If I didn't get ahead of Lando at the start, we would end up P2 today. It's fine margins that can decide the outcome of the race. So far we're doing it well but we can't rely on that all the time, to win races you need to be the outright fastest, which is what have been lacking in the last few racesMax Verstappen added
Certainly, Verstappen felt winning was not enough in Spanish GP. Red Bull need to make improvements in their car’s speed. However, fans were delighted to see Verstappen win another race, which added crucial points to maintain the lead in both the constructors’ and drivers’ standings.
