Lewis Hamilton managed to Qualify in third place for the Spanish GP. The seven-time world champion missed out on finding a place at the front row. As Lando Norris and Max Verstappen pulled off some impressive laps. After the session, Hamilton commented on Mercedes’ chances of potentially grabbing a victory.

Lewis Hamilton admitted that it was going to be difficult for the Silver Arrows to fight for race victory. The seven-time world champion reckoned that Lando Norris and Max Verstappen would be very quick in Sunday’s race. The Briton highlighted that track position would play a key role in this regard.

I think it’ll be very difficult to [challenge for the victory]. I think these two [NOR & VER] will be very quick. But position is everything.

Moreover, Hamilton cited that George Russell was starting alongside him in P4. As such, the 39-year-old hoped that the two Mercedes drivers could work together to apply pressure on the race leaders, hinting at race strategy. Lewis Hamilton emphasized that tire wear would be an important aspect.

Hamilton was happy to have a good result for Mercedes in Qualifying. The seven-time world champion claimed that it was a fantastic feeling. The 39-year-old reckoned that such a result was a long time coming for the Silver Arrows. The Brackley-based team had struggled to get good Qualifying results at the start of the season.

Additionally, Lewis Hamilton mentioned that locking out the second row was a huge improvement for Mercedes. As the team finally showed more consistency over one-lap pace. The seven-time world champion thanked the entire crew back at Brackley for making such a performance possible after the early season struggles.

For us to be in this position where we’re getting a 3rd and a 4th and starting to be more consistent in that realm is huge. Really huge thanks to everyone back at the factory, cause it’s really down to everyone there.
