Lando Norris’s performance in recent races were astonishing as he managed to secure podiums in every race possible. The Briton raced wheel-to-wheel against Max Verstappen who is currently leading the drivers standing. However, Norris doesn’t seem too far away from catching the Dutchman at the top. Verstappen’s performance in recent races were tricky which led Norris to reduce this much gap between them. Lewis Hamilton claims it is still possible for the McLaren driver to challenge the reigning world champion.

Lewis Hamilton believed that Lando Norris could potentially catch up to Max Verstappen in the drivers’ standings, even though Norris is 78 points behind. Hamilton admitted that while it would be really hard for Norris to close the 78-point gap, it was not completely out of the question. He recognized the difficulty but still held onto the hope that it could be done, acknowledging the young Britons talent and driving skills.

Lewis Hamilton mentioned that McLaren has two very skilled drivers who are actively competing for top positions in the championship. Their car is performing exceptionally, consistently earning high points in the standings. Therefore, the 39-year-old highlighted McLaren driver’s are the strong contenders currently and their car is also the best. Therefore the seven-time-world champion believed they could challenge Max Verstappen and Red Bull for the championship.

Lewis Hamilton acknowledged that Lando Norris would face significant challenges, given the large 78 points gap. He noted that Red Bull’s RB20 car is very strong and nearly perfect in performance. The only setback they faced in Belgian was Max Verstappen’s engine issue during the race. Therefore, Hamilton reckoned it will be tough for Norris to challenge Red Bull but not impossible.

They may have fallen back a little bit in one of the races when Max’s engine stopped, in Australia. But apart from that, they’re a very good team.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton believed Lando Norris had the ability to fight against Max Verstappen and Red Bull for the championship. The task would be difficult with the rather big points gap, but it doesn’t seem that tough with 14 races still left. Fans would be rooting for Norris as if he manages to beat the Dutchman it would be his first championship title.
