Lewis Hamilton has raced for Mercedes since 2013. However, the seven-time world champion will leave the Silver Arrows to join Ferrari next year. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff had commented on Hamilton’s age recently. Now, the British driver has made it clear that he has nothing to prove.

Wolff highlighted that Hamilton’s Ferrari move made things easier for Mercedes. The Austrian billionaire reckoned that the 39-year-old’s shelf life was gradually decreasing. As such, Toto Wolff would have had to potentially replace Lewis Hamilton in the future.

The seven-time world champion gave a clear response at the Las Vegas GP, without explicitly mentioning the comment. Lewis Hamilton emphasized that he remains in F1 as strong as ever in 2024. The Mercedes driver claimed that he was in a great place mentally despite a few difficult races. He made it clear that he will stay in the sport and keep fighting in the future.

I think just me being here, standing tall, I feel strong, I’ve been training well. Honestly I feel like I’m in the best place I’ve been mentally and considering how bad the last race was, I think that says enough.., I’m still here, I’m still fighting and I’m going to continue to push.

I’ve been around this game for a long time. there’s been so many things that have been said about me, there’s been so many micro aggressions, not from my boss because he’s been supportive – but in general within the media, nothing can take me down.

Lewis Hamilton stated

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton would be looking to bounce back after almost quitting Mercedes at the Brazilian GP. The 39-year-old needs to have a solid stint in his final three races with the team to ensure he leaves Brackley on a high note.
