Lewis Hamilton still far behind Max Verstappen in title fight

At the start of the 2024 season, many believed that Max Verstappen would once again easily win the world title. The Dutchman has won seven races mid-way through the season. However, Red Bull no longer has the pace advantage it enjoyed in the past two seasons.

Ferrari, McLaren, and now Mercedes all have now defeated Verstappen with pure pace this season. The Dutch driver now needs to push himself to the limit in every race to secure victory. This could provide Lewis Hamilton with the perfect opportunity to became a title contender in the coming races.

However, Max Verstappen still enjoys a healthy lead in the standings. The reigning world champion leads second-placed Lando Norris by 84 points. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton trails the Dutchman by a whopping 145 points in eighth place. With 12 races to go in 2024, anything can happen indeed, however, Hamilton will need some incredible race weekends at the cost of Verstappen to ensure that he can have a real shot at the title. While also hoping that other drivers don’t make ground in this battle either, which could be extremely challenging.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton would love to have a chance at winning an unprecedented eighth world title this season. However, the chances are slim. Nevertheless, the seven-time world champion will be pushing himself to the limit at every race to get the best result possible. Fans would be hoping to see Hamilton and Verstappen go head-to-head once again this year.
