Scuderia Ferrari is the most iconic name in the world of motorsport. The Italian team has the richest legacy in Formula 1. However, in the past two decades, Maranello has failed to replicate his former glory, not winning a single title since 2008. Now, Lewis Hamilton has made it clear that he will not go through such a fate.

The seven-time world champion joined the Scuderia this year, making one of the biggest driver moves in recent history. So far, things have not gone as planned for the Briton, who has failed to even get a podium finish. Albeit, the 40-year-old did win the sprint race in China.

Hamilton is not the first F1 champion who is finding it difficult to perform at Ferrari. Previously, Sebastian Vettel, and Fernando Alonso have failed to fulfil their dreams of winning the title at Maranello. Both drivers left the Scuderia on bad terms, after having fallouts with the management.

Lewis Hamilton recognised that the Prancing Horse has had no shortage of amazing drivers in the past two decades, including Vettel and Alonso. However, the seven-time world champion declared that he will not face the failures his predecessors went through at Maranello. Though, Hamilton also mentioned Kimi Raikkonen, it must be noted that Raikkonen did win a world title with Ferrari during his first stint at Maranello in 2007.

If you look at the team for the last 20 years, they have had amazing drivers – Fernando, Kimi, Sebastian. Amazing drivers but they didn’t win a title… and I refuse to have that happen with me.

Lewis Hamilton told The Race

The British driver pointed out that doing something similar to the past will only get the same outcome. Thus, Lewis Hamilton was working on challenging Ferrari’s old norms, all in a bid to make the team better. The 40-year-old even admitted that he doesn’t have any years to waste, so every race counts.

If you do the same things you have the same results, so I’m challenging everything…They are very responsive… I’m here to win, I don’t have much time so it is crunch time.

2026 will be one of the biggest regulation shake-ups in F1 history. The sport will be introducing new power units as well as new chassis, with the goal of more exciting and sustainable racing. This rule change could completely overhaul the pecking order, allowing Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari to have a shot at the world title next season.

The seven-time world champion had previously admitted that he will not be fighting for the title this season. Thus, it’s better for Hamilton and the Scuderia to shift focus early on the upcoming rule change. The British driver has now revealed that he has had meetings with team boss Fred Vasseur and Ferrari President John Elkann. The 40-year-old claimed that they not only discussed the new power units, but even the suspensions for next year’s car.

In the last 2 weeks I’ve been at the factory for various meetings with [Fred] and [John] and the heads of departments. We have talked about the 2026 engine, but also the front and rear suspensions of next year.

Lewis Hamilton stated

Certainly, 2026 will be the big test for Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari. After working together for one whole season, the duo cannot make any mistakes next year. Hamilton is hungry to win another world championship, particularly with the Scuderia. However, a lot will rely on Maranello’s ability to build a capable car. Thus, the Tifosi will need to patiently wait to see whether Hamilton finds himself in the mix for the championship next season.
