The British GP weekend has been an exciting one for the home fans. For the first time since 1968, qualifying resulted in the top-three spots covered by Brits. George Russell bagged an impressive pole ahead of his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton, who headed Lando Norris. Witnessing the impressive strength of the McLaren around Silverstone, the former world champion reckoned that he would work together with Russell to bring home a 1-2 finish.

George Russell won the race in Austria after the title titans collided with each other and gifted him the lead. However, rolling up to the weekend in Britain, the team expected themselves to be behind the McLaren. This soon changed as Lando Norris aborted his final push-lap in Q3 and allowed Russell and Hamilton to retain their provisional positions.

I think the car felt great. It was just about getting the tire temperatures in the right place. I feel really confident about the car tomorrow. If we[Russell and Hamilton] can work together we can keep Lando[Norris] behind.
Lewis Hamilton said in the post-qualifying interview

The 39-year-old commended the car’s characteristics and emphasized how being in the perfect temperature window meant that they could extract crucial performance. Moreover, with the chance that Mercedes has now to claim a 1-2, Hamilton asserted that he would work with his teammate to keep the MCL38 behind them.

Lando Norris is optimistic that he will be able to pounce past Lewis Hamilton and George Russell

Norris was deemed the lead candidate for the pole position after Max Verstappen damaged his RB18 in Q1. The dream of starting on pole at his home race was seemingly coming true, but to the surprise of many, it shattered against the might of Russell.

Despite losing pole, the 24-year-old claimed he was happy with his qualifying result.

I'm happy with P3. Three Brits lock out the top three so pretty cool here. Good laps by George and Lewis - they did an excellent job and put in some nice laps. A little mistake on my part at the end but P3 is still good. I can bring the fight to George and to Lewis. So looking forward to it.
Lando Norris said in the post-qualifying interview

Norris admitted that he was happy it was an all-Brit lockout in the front. He then appreciated his compatriots for their impressive laps. However, he reckoned that he could bring more to the fight up front tomorrow and is optimistic to catch the Dutchman leading the championship.

Apart from this, the McLaren driver will be starting on the clean side of the grid tomorrow. Thus, he would have a chance of overtaking the village section on the track and controlling the race from thereon.
