Lewis Hamilton heads for his final race at Mercedes this weekend in Abu Dhabi. The seven-time world champion will race for the Silver Arrows for the final time in his career. Unfortunately, this emotional setting has been hampered by a frustrating season.
Hamilton had struggled in the ground-effect era in the past two seasons. Fans hoped that things will change in 2024 with Mercedes making progress. Lewis Hamilton even broke his winless run with a fairytale victory at the British GP. However, things have gone downhill in the latter half of the year.
The seven-time world champion has been left fuming after virtually every race in the past few weeks. The Briton even admitted that he was ready to quit Mercedes after the Brazilian GP. As such, Hamilton’s last dance with the team has become more of a formality than a heartbreaking exit.
Lewis Hamilton completely tired of Mercedes’ 2024 campaign
The 39-year-old was lost for words following yet another bad weekend in Qatar. It seemed that Lewis Hamilton just wanted to leave the paddock as soon as possible. This has become a trend this season with Hamilton having a string of poor Saturdays across the year.

Moreover, the Briton has admitted that he does look forward to his Ferrari switch for next season. Scuderia Ferrari has had a much more positive run and the Italian team even has the chance to win the Constructors’ title in Abu Dhabi. Thus, Lewis Hamilton might be losing all motivation to go for a good final race for Brackley.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff recently claimed that he would’ve had to sack Hamilton over his age sooner or later. This would’ve further deteriorated the Briton’s feelings towards the team. Lewis Hamilton indirectly hit back at Wolff shortly after those remarks.
The Silver Arrows have planned a grand farewell for the seven-time world champion. This would undoubtedly be an emotional goodbye no matter how the season has gone for the Briton. However, some might think it as more of a PR activity considering how the atmosphere became within the team in recent months.
