The Hungarian GP weekend has been full of rollercoasters. The weekend began with McLaren locking out the front row and making a statement that Red Bull is not the fastest car anymore. This statement transcended into the race as McLaren led the race from lights out, while Max Verstappen trundled down the grid as he was undercutted by multiple drivers. This urged him to assert that the team gave him a flawed strategy.

Max Verstappen started the Hungarian GP weekend with high hopes as he led the championship with an 84-point lead. However, his lead is seemingly under threat as McLaren soon started making strides. The Dutchman qualified P3 for the race, wanted to make the most out of the race start, and sent it around the outside of the papaya cars.

However, he had to concede the position back to Lando Norris and was then under threat from Lewis Hamilton behind for the P3.

No, mate. Don't give me that ****. You guys gave me this f***ing strategy, OK? I'm trying to rescue what's left.
Max Verstappen said over team radio

After a miserable race so far, when he was asked by the team to let the tires gradually set in, he expressed his frustration and asserted blame on Red Bull for putting him in a worse position. Subsequently, he discarded the team’s advice and claimed that he was giving his all to limit the damage throughout the weekend.

McLaren might find themselves in a stroke of trouble

While the English team was leading comfortably, they seemingly put themselves in a tough self-imposed position. Oscar Piastri was in the lead of the race, but the team gave first priority to Norris in the pitstops letting the British driver undercut his teammate, which many deemed to be unfair.

Subsequently, when the team asked the Englishman to let his younger teammate through, Norris seemingly threw up some tantrums before agreeing.

Will Joseph: We need you to save more tyres, please, and we do want to let Oscar through.
Lando Norris: We should have boxed him first then, surely, no?
The conversation took place over the radio

Norris disobeyed his race engineer’s initial requests as he claimed that the situation at hand was due to the pitstop phase. However, he then complied with McLaren’s request and allowed the Aussie through for his maiden win.

Despite Piastri becoming the seventh different race winner this season, the championship still remains between Norris and Verstappen. Moreover, the Dutchman might be penalized for his incident with Hamilton. This could demote him down to a P6 finish and cause some havoc in the Red Bull camp.
