Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen showed great sportsmanship as he applauded Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton on his stunning win at the British Grand Prix. Verstappen finished P2 but was overjoyed at the seven-time world champion’s first victory in over 945 days.
Max Verstappen has been a dominating force in F1e for the past three seasons, winning over 51 races for the Milton-Keynes Outfit. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton has not enjoyed equivalent success on the grid, he won for the very first time on Sunday since his triumph in the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Therefore, when the 39-year-old successfully took the chequered flag at Silverstone, everyone on the grid rejoiced for the Brit’s historic ninth win at the track. Amongst many, the most notable gesture of them all was put forward by Max Verstappen, who was the first to applaud the veteran on the track after his win.

The win at Silverstone holds emotional significance in the heart of Hamilton, who races in Mercedes overalls for the very last time in his homeland ahead of his move to Ferrari next year. As for Mercedes, the German team will turn up to the upcoming race in Budapest on the back of consecutive wins, which will offer them a huge boost.
Toto Wolff confirms upgrades for Mercedes at Budapest and Spa
Mercedes Team Principal, Toto Wolff has credited their recent upturn in form to his team and the people associated with it. Wolff thereafter confirmed that to ensure the team’s performance, newer upgrades are set to be brought to the Hungarian and Belgian Grand Prix.

Toto Wolff elaborated on the team’s persistence and strategies earlier this season, saying that Mercedes is on a roll to deliver as many upgrades as they can in as little time as possible. The sole motive for doing so would be to outpace the developments of the others on the grid in hopes of having an edge on the track as well.
Following such developments, Mercedes has emerged as a competitive force on the grid, battling the superior likes of McLaren and Red Bull. Wolff has thereafter conferred that the Silver Arrows will continue to work on their developments as he reckons that the team still has more pace to find to be a regular contender for wins through the remainder of the 2024 season.
