Max Verstappen put forth yet another jaw-dropping performance at the Brazilian GP after achieving a podium finish despite starting the race from the pit lane. Verstappen seemed to be on the back foot for the entire Brazilian weekend and had seemingly given up on all title hopes. However, a P3 finish in Brazil has still kept the dream alive. Now, the Dutchman opens up on the tricky factors at Interlagos that he had to face before finishing in P3.

Ahead of the Brazilian GP weekend, Max Verstappen was trailing the championship leader Lando Norris by around 36 points. The Dutchman was expected to cut down on the gap, if not maintain it, in Brazil. However, this wasn’t possible as Verstappen fell short and couldn’t beat Norris in either the sprint race or the main race. For now, the 28-year-old is adrift of the title lead by 49 points, which is definitely going to be extremely difficult to cover in just three races.

Max Verstappen was still utterly dominant at the Brazilian GP and gained 16 positions to ultimately finish in P3. The Dutchman’s RB21 challenger did utilize a new power unit and a different aerodynamic upgrade, which contributed to his overall success. Now, the Las Vegas GP is up next, and Verstappen has a positive track record in the third and final American race of the year.

Speaking on the conditions in Brazil, Max Verstappen noted that he tried to pass all the cars as quickly as possible. However, the Dutchman had to overtake the cars in the DRS train, which was not straightforward or easy. Regardless, keeping in mind the circumstances, he still finished just 10 seconds off the race leader, Lando Norris, which in itself was incredible.

I just tried to pass as fast as possible, but some cars were in DRS trains so it was not straightforward. With all that, to finish 10 seconds from the lead was incredible.

Max Verstappen said in a post-race interview.

Max Verstappen makes ‘never give up’ remark on his title hopes after Brazil dominance

Max Verstappen was delighted after achieving a podium finish in Brazil, especially because of the circumstances. The entire race was quite eventful for the 28-year-old, and the P3 finish certainly did not come easy for him. As such, even though he is trailing the championship lead by a massive difference now, he still isn’t ready to give up on his ambitions to win his fifth consecutive title this year.

Max Verstappen insisted that the Brazil GP race was full-on, action-packed for him. He noted that his pace was quite strong, which was a great point. Verstappen added that to finish on the podium after a pitlane start was something that he did not expect at all. After surviving a tire puncture and still being in contention, the Dutchman noted that it was indeed an incredible result. Hence, he made a never give up remark on his title hopes after the Brazilian outing.

The race was full on. Our pace was quite strong. To be on the podium from the pit lane, I didn’t expect that at all – with the puncture as well. Incredible result for us. We never give up.

Max Verstappen added.

The 2025 season still has three races to go, one of which is a sprint weekend. Verstappen will certainly give it his all in the final races and not make life any easier for the duo of McLaren. For now, the Dutchman will take a sigh of relief as his title ambitions are not over until it’s over.
