McLaren has recently signed a multi-year deal with an e-commerce platform, eBay. Moreover, the company’s branding will be put on both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri’s cars during the upcoming Miami GP weekend.
However, the branding will not be featured in every race going ahead, just particular ones such as Miami GP, Silverstone, Austin, and Las Vegas. McLaren’s CEO Zak Brown was thrilled to make an official announcement.
While talking to the media regarding the deal, he had the following to say.
McLaren Racing and eBay have a great synergy with both brands having a commitment to a passionate community of followers. We look forward to going racing with world's most iconic online marketplace.Zac Brown told: Racingnews365
After Ferrari signed a deal with tech-giant HP quite recently, they have decided to go with a blue livery and suits for the upcoming Miami race weekend. In McLaren’s case, their deal will help both eBay and the team gain more audience via their diverse networks alongside the branding for the American races.
Lando Norris believes the 24-race calendar is not sustainable
In recent times, many drivers have voiced their questions in regard to the 24-race F1 calendar. Previously, Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen had raised their concerns about the same, now Lando Norris has joined his fellow racers and believes that the system is unhealthy and unsustainable.
While talking about the same he added the following.
The main point is just the toll it has on mechanics and engineers. I don’t think it’s too bad for us as drivers, honestly. I don’t think we can be the ones to complain at all. It’s the hundreds of mechanics and engineers that we have here that have to travel so much. It’s not healthy for them. It is not sustainable.Lando Norris via: motorsportweek.com
F1 sprints have been around since 2021 to give equal opportunity to every team. The sprints are introduced during certain racing weekends, however, they only add to the stress and drain the energy of the 20 racing drivers. With six sprint events and 24 full-fledged races packed into one long calendar, the engineers and team that work behind the scenes suffer a lot due to the excessive workload. It’s high time that F1 makes sustainable changes.
