“It has nothing to do with me,” Max Verstappen says Nelson Piquet’s words are not his statements
Max and Nelson
Max Verstappen was recently asked to share his views on the comment that Nelson Piquet made toward Lewis Hamilton and the Dutchman has indicated that piquet is his own man and his comments have got nothing to do with him.
Max Verstappen has declined to get involved in the ongoing piquet saga but has accepted that Nelson Piquet was wrong in using a racial slur by saying, “It is not acceptable to use such words, the most important thing is that people learn not to use those words, because of course it is very sensitive.”
The Dutchman has accepted the criticism that his father-in-law is receiving and believes after the racial slur the criticism was bound to come the way of the 69-year-old Brazilian.
However, Max does not feel as if it is his problem and wants to stay away from it as much as possible. “In the end, it has nothing to do with me. I am close to the family, but they are not my statements.”
Max is someone who is very cutthroat with his words and does not sugarcoat before saying them, and this is exactly what he has done this time around by blatantly saying that it has got nothing to do with me.
Toto Wolff wants people to stop talking about Nelson Piquet’s racist comment on tracks
Toto Wolff who is an ardent supporter of Lewis Hamilton has asked everyone to stop talking about racism while being around the track as he feels that giving attention to something that people are trying to remove from our society is not right.
However, Wolff has indicated that off-track it is the duty of every individual to support Lewis Hamilton as much as possible and stand behind him in the fight that he has been fighting for years.
Lewis Hamilton is someone who is cherished by fans all over the world not only for what he does on track but also for the acts of kindness and the social work that he does off track as well.
The Brit is an inspiration to many and to see him get racially abused is something that cannot be accepted, the Piquet saga is still in full swing and it will be interesting to see how the situation is going to further develop.
