‘€35,900 in fines’: Sebastian Vettel leads Carlos Sainz in the list of drivers reprimanded the most’

Sebastian Vettel
F1 Fans see Sebastian Vettel as an icon of the sport and some might think that he must be the sole driver on the grid to follow every single rule. Although that isn’t the case and the numbers don’t lie. Vettel was made to pay a 25,000 Euros fine for his ‘behaviour during a meeting.’ This incident had occurred during the Austrian GP weekend. He was also fined 5,000 Euros for driving a scooter on track without permission at the Australian GP. He has racked up 35,900 Euros in penalty fines so far.
Carlos Sainz comes second on the list after the four time world champion . The Spaniard has been handed 25,000 Euros worth of fines so far this season, placing him second on an unwanted list. There are a few other drivers in the list who have hit the 10,000 Euro mark include title rivals Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.
The FIA is known for being rigorously strict and has handed out fines for every punishable offence. If the incident happens to be a mistake of a driver and his actions then they have to pay the fine out of their own pocket. Max Verstappen jokingly said last year that he hoped that the FIA treated themselves to a nice dinner with the 50,000 euro fine that the Dutch driver had paid to the organization.

Standings of the 2022 F1 drivers who have incurred the most fines with Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz topping the list

After the controversy in Abu Dhabi last year, FIA has become more strict when it comes to pulling up a driver not following a particular rule. That was done to remain consistent and avoid controversy of any sort.
The above mentioned names are not the only ones to have punished by the FIA. The other names include:
Sebastian Vettel | Aston Martin | €35,900 |
Carlos Sainz | Ferrari | €25,000 |
Sergio Perez | Red Bull | €10,600 |
Lewis Hamilton | Mercedes | €10,000 |
Daniel Ricciardo | McLaren | €10,000 |
Zhou Guanyu | Alfa Romeo | €10,000 |
Charles Leclerc | Ferrari | €10,000 |
Max Verstappen | Red Bull | €10,000 |
Lance Stroll | Aston Martin | €5,900 |
Valtteri Bottas | Alfa Romeo | €2,000 |
Alexander Albon | Williams | €1,800 |
Yuki Tsunoda | AlphaTauri | €1,300 |
Pierre Gasly | AlphaTauri | €1,300 |
All the fines that the drivers and team pay to the FIA help them run the organisation and put the money to good use. Out of all the teams, Haas and Alpine seem to be the only ones with drivers who have a clean sheet. Meaning they haven’t paid a single penalty fine this year. Had Nikitia Mazepin still been in the sport, where do you think he would have ended up on this leaderboard?
