“A very good, personal relationship,” Daniel Ricciardo discards all rumors about his clash with Max Verstappen with his recent comments

Giving all the fans another chance of watching their heartthrob Daniel Ricciardo donning the Red Bull suit once again, the Honey Badger has signed up to return to the Austrian team–this time, in the third driver role. And this means that he will have to review their RB-19 racecar and give a report to the two regular drivers currently under contract with Red Bull–Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. The close communication between Ricciardo and the two Red Bull talents will make or break the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
But it is no news that Daniel Ricciardo does not have the closest of relationships with Red Bull’s starboy Max Verstappen. Rumor has it that the two-time World Champion was the reason behind Ricciardo leaving RB back in 2018 for Renault, as the Australian had felt unseen and was at odds with the Dutchman. Now, Daniel Ricciardo has set the record straight regarding his dynamics with Verstappen. He disregarded all the talk in the F1 community that went on about how things are sour between the two, and said, “I think we’ve always had a pretty good relationship. Very competitive, of course, but also a very good personal relationship, and we also communicate via SMS and stuff.”
Ricciardo’s reassurance has made fans hopeful that he will be instrumental in helping Red Bull win another Constructors’ Championship trophy in a row. Speaking on his employment at the topmost team in Formula 1 right now, Daniel Ricciardo elaborated on the tasks that he has now got to perform to ensure that the Milton-Keynes-based outfit gets the best results out of their weekends contesting in the F1 Grands Prix.

Daniel Ricciardo says he is ready to be the team player to help make Red Bull better

Daniel Ricciardo’s role in Red Bull, for now, has been designated as that of a “third driver”. This, however, will not be a racing role as the team has already gotten Liam Lawson as their reserve driver. Elaborating on his role in Red Bull, Daniel Ricciardo said, “Once I start the harder work in the simulator, I’m sure I’ll have more contact with Max and Sergio. And [I’ll tell them], ‘Guys, that’s how I felt. How do you feel about that? Or is that the direction you’re looking for? Is that the same weakness on the track as what I’m experiencing today should I develop more in this area? Should I ask the engineers or the simulation team about it?‘”
Now, Daniel Ricciardo’s appointment at Red Bull has been deduced by many F1 pundits as a slight warning to Sergio Perez. The Mexican needs to up his game now and prove to the team that he is worthy of a contract renewal so that the Australian does not barge in and take his place as the teammate of Max Verstappen.
