Max Verstappen didn’t have the best start to the weekends as he had to miss one of the practice session due to a hydraulic issue with the car. This is not the first time that the reigning world champion had to face problems because of an unreliable car. The job was made tougher since it was a new circuit and every driver would have wanted to put in as many laps before the qualifying and the main race.

But Max Verstappen showed the world why he is the world champion after a decent qualifying session despite all his troubles. Although he did make a mistake in qualifying but the Dutchman was able to put that behind him and went on attack from the get go as he overtook Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz going into the first corner. After that it was the battle that everyone wanted to see, Charles Leclerc v. Max Verstappen.

Red Bull star driver didn’t take a lot of time to overtake the championship leader and stamped his authority on the race. Max Verstappen was able to build a commanding lead over the next few laps but eventually was cut short after Lando Norris’ crash which brought out the safety car. This meant that Charles Leclerc was right on his tail and waiting for an opportunity to get past his arch rival.

Max Verstappen was able to fend off Leclerc to make that his third win of the season. The world champion was elated and gave an in depth analysis of the race. He said, “I didn’t have a start all weekend because of the troubles. So, I didn’t know what to expect.

“This one was obviously very nice, but also very tough. After fifteen laps you do start to count the laps, it was physically tough, but super nice.”

That safety car didn’t help at the end, otherwise we could have ridden it out in a controlled manner. That of course made it more exciting for everyone.”

Abu Dhabi last year comes to mind, of course,” as reported by gpblog.

Max Verstappen has made it a habit of winning every race that he has finished but Red Bull need to get on top of their reliability issues in order for the world champion to retain his title because just like last year, it’s could very well be a close call.
