Max Verstappen has been on one of his famous rampages this year, and Red Bull’s Chief Technology Officer, Adrian Newey, has acknowledged and hailed the abilities of the Dutchman. According to Newey, not many drivers have the kind of natural talent that Verstappen has in the cockpit of an F1 car.

Adrian Newey is a huge admirer of Max Verstappen, and he was recently asked by Sky Sports if he thinks the 25-year-old is the perfect driver; while answering, he said, “I think he is. He’s got tremendous car control and natural ability. He came in, maybe made some mistakes early on because he was pushing so hard, but now he’s really smooth and drives absolutely to the limit of the car, but within that he’s very thoughtful.”

He has a very good feeling from the tyres; we have seen that in several races over the last two years. He really has a good feel with how to use the tyres. With the tyre behaviour, that’s such an important factor now.” Newey had indicated that Verstappen was very eager when he came into the Red Bull fold, but as he’s gained more and more experience, he has become the perfect driver.

Moreover, Newey believes he has a very good feeling of where the tires are during a Grand Prix and can pass on reliable information to his strategists. Max Verstappen has improved with time, and Adrian Newey being at Red Bull for several years, has had the opportunity to follow his career closely.

While Adrian Newey has not shied away from applauding the superpowers of Max Verstappen behind the wheel of an F1 car, the latter has just carried on from where he left last year. Verstappen has been in tremendous form this year and has already managed to score five race victories in the seven that have taken place so far.

As things stand, he comfortably sits at the top spot in the Drivers Championship with 170 points. His nearest rival, Sergio Perez is way behind with only 117 points in the same number of 2023 outings. The RB19 has very well suited the driving style of Verstappen and he is making the most of it.

The ongoing campaign has still got several races left in the season. Still, taking into account Max Verstappen’s relentless form, it is very unlikely that he would lose out on the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship. If he manages to secure the title this year, it would be his third consecutive title triumph.
