The Brazil GP came with a plethora of drama. However, it all started with the drama occurring between Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso who seemed to have a disappointing outing at Interlagos. It was during the sprint race on Saturday when the grid order for Sunday’s race would be set. What happened between the two teammates was seriously disappointing and put the team in a tough position.

Both the Alpine drivers came into contact during the Sprint race. Esteban Ocon closed off the door for Fernando Alonso as he tried to overtake the French driver from the outside but failed to do so. This in turn left the Spaniard with damage and forced him to pit and come out dead last. Esteban on the other hand didn’t have much of a decent race either. Both the drivers finished outside the top 8.

Only the top 8 drivers get rewarded with points during the sprint. Apart from that, this incident hurt them in their fight with McLaren in the constructors. With the battle for P4 in the team’s championship going strong, It was absolutely necessary for the drivers to work together instead of fight on track. Nevertheless Esteban Ocon said that he still respects his teammate more than ever.

The French driver told the race that he would always have respect for his teammates no matter what happens. After their unfortunate incident, some harsh words were said on the team radio by Fernando Alonso which don’t seem to bother Ocon at all. Here is what the French driver told the Race. “I always have a lot of respect for him, he’s a legend, and I will keep my respect for him forever,” he reveals. “Doesn’t matter what he said to you guys, I prefer when we speak together.”

As the F1 circus approaches the Abu Dhabi GP weekend, a lot of drivers will bid farewell to their teams and the sport. It will be Esteban Ocon’s last race with the world champion as his teammate. Alpine will have an all French lineup next year with the likes of Pierre Gasly joining the team to race alongside Esteban for 2023. Fun times lie ahead of the team as they will go through a big change for next season.
