Michael Krack, the boss of the Aston Martin Formula One team, has recently detailed how the unprecedented Ferrari move of Lewis Hamilton has changed the F1 drivers’ market. Hamilton will join Ferrari after the 2024 season. The upcoming silly season would be wild, considering 13 drivers including Fernando Alonso will see their contracts running out.

Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin had great moments in 2023. But with the market shaking up this season, and with Alonso being on the shortlist of drivers Mercedes wants to sign, the English racing team finds themselves in a tough spot. They will be eager to extend the Spaniard’s contract as he would be more desirable in the market, considering he would be the only champion not to have a fixed seat for 2025.

With Lewis’ signature, the whole market exploded! We knew there would be a silly season this year. We have not even turned a wheel and the driver market is in full swing. We love Fernando. We have a great relationship based on openness and trust…It would be fantastic if we could continue into 2025 and 2026.

Krack said, as reported by Planetf1.com

Team Principal of Aston Martin said Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has exploded the market. Krack pointed out that this could be a silly season for us as there would be a lot of driver changes. He also asserted that Fernando Alonso and the team have a great relationship as both have trust in each other.

I am concentrating on performance, not the future. Well, at the moment, I haven’t spent too much time thinking about the future, he insisted. I am aware that there aren’t a lot of world champions available with Max with Red Bull, Lewis with Ferrari. There is only me left, without a contract. I need to feel, myself, whether I want to commit, to keep racing.

Sergio Perez acknowledges that Lewis Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari is interesting

Sergio Perez thinks Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari will have “interesting dynamics.” Since Hamilton has been a driver for Mercedes for a long time and will be transferring his knowledge to another team, there will be some interesting dynamics to watch from the outside. We all know how jealous the other teams are when it comes to information sharing.

It was not only Perez, there were other responses on Hamilton’s move to Ferrari including Max Verstappen who said that at the end of the day, seeing Hamilton go to Ferrari is not a surprise as it was his childhood dream. Fernando Alonso said that he was in the gym when he got to know about Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, and he was completely shocked.

At last, it would be interesting to see whether Hamilton’s move to Ferrari will be worth it or not. Whether he will be able to fill the championship drought of Ferrari. The Italian has been looking for another championship for 15 years, since Kimi Raikkonen‘s triumph in 2007.
