Aston Martin’s Mike Krack wants to keep his ‘feet on the ground’ despite Fernando Alonso’s wild success with 4 podium wins
Aston Martin's Team Principal Mike Krack has talked about how he wants to keep his focus steady and not get distracted by small accomplishments.

The start to the all-new 2023 season of Formula 1 could not have been better for Aston Martin that how it has been. The team that could only score 55 points last year with a sixth-spot finish in the Championship Standings, is now regularly going for the podiums with their star racer Fernando Alonso. As of now, Aston Martin is at 105 points and 75 of those points have been attained by the Spaniard alone. This has proven that the two-time World Champion took the most prudent step by shifting to Lawrence Stroll‘s team with faith in the Canadian’s visions for AMR.
When Racing Point got rebranded and Aston Martin made a comeback into Formula 1 in 2021, many critics had commented that their car seemed to be a replica of Mercedes’ setup from the previous season. Now, AMR has consistently beaten Mercedes’ performance at the races, and they are 6 points ahead of the Silver Arrows. While most team bosses would be over the moon seeing such consistent results such as Aston Martin’s, Mike Krack, Team Principal of AMR, wants to stay humble and focus on improving further.
In reaction to Aston Martin’s place in the Championship Standings right now, Mike Krack was asked whether he is overjoyed with the results. But he said, “No, no, no. Feet on the ground. You should never take a podium in F1 as a normal or as a given because it’s a lot of hard work involved to be on the podium, and you have very, very strong and very professional competitors in Formula 1.“
Mike Krack says Aston Martin needs to give 100% at all times

As of now, Aston Martin is currently in the second place but Mercedes is breathing down their neck. Even though the first few races saw disappointing performances from the Brackley outfit, they have already improved and it was evident because of Lewis Hamilton‘s podium in Australia. Again, in Miami, George Russell was right behind Fernando Alonso. Thus, at any point, Mercedes can surpass Aston Martin. In Mike Krack’s opinion, the 2023 is a long haul, and Aston Martin should focus on solidifying their position in the second spot on the team standings. He said, “If you are not 100% in all areas at all times, then there is no podium.“
In other news, Lewis Hamilton’s P13 position in the starting grid because of a poor Qualifying performance miffed many of his fans. The seven-time World Champion did improve during the race, but he could only climb up till the sixth spot. This caused Toto Wolff to curse their W14 car as he placed the entire blame on it for spoiling Mercedes’ Championship campaign. Now, it remains to be seen how the team manages to improve with their upgrades so that they can become more competitive in the upcoming races.
