The Sauber group was supposed to be fully acquired by Audi in 2026, but to the surprise of many, the team has recently finished the full takeover. Former McLaren team principal, Andreas Seidl, will serve as CEO of the Audi project.

Andreas Seidl has already set his eyes on two drivers. It is no surprise that Carlos Sainz is one of them. The speculations of Audi wanting to sign Sainz have been going around for quite a while. However, the team has managed to seek the perfect opportunity as they will be joining the grid in 2025 in a major capacity.

Carlos Sainz, who is currently a Ferrari driver, will run out of his contract at the end of this season. The Spaniard already has many teams lined up to sign him but there is no guarantee. With Audi having an interest in him, they will probably try their best to lure him in. The next choice for the German outfit is the current Haas driver, Nico Hulkenberg. The German in recent times has kept it no secret that he is far from satisfied with the Haas’s performance

This year, the American team is definitely off to a better start than the previous year but will it be enough to keep hold of Hulkenberg, is the question. Audi’s clear interest could act as a catalyst for the German driver. No matter how much Haas improves there are obvious limitations, and considering that Hulkenberg is already 36, this is possibly the last opportunity for him to sign a big contract.

As mentioned earlier, Carlos Sainz’s contract with Ferrari will come to a close at the end of this year, and he still doesn’t have a drive for 2025. With his brilliant performance at the Australian GP, he has managed to catch the eye of various team principals.

The former F1 team owner, Eddie Jordan has claimed on the Formula For Success podcast that he has a strong feeling that Aston Martin will offer Sainz a seat for next year.

Do not be surprised if you see an all-Spanish Aston Martin team next year. I am telling you I believe that if there is not a place in Red Bull for him, he will join Fernando in Aston Martin - that’s what I believe.

This is all just speculation at the moment, and from what it looks like the team wouldn’t replace Lance Stroll for obvious reasons. However, in the crazy world of F1, anything is possible. Sainz is the most sought-after driver in the drivers market currently, and with his potential, any team would be lucky to have him on board. The Sainz 2025 saga is surely going to develop further in the upcoming months.
