Max Verstappen wins the action-packed Australian GP. The Red Bull driver dominated this weekend and finished ahead of fellow world champions Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. The race was chaotic. The Australian GP will be an event to remember for the number of safety cars and red flags. There were multiple crashes and different race leaders. However, in the end, it all worked out for Verstappen.

Max Verstappen is 15 points ahead of his teammate Sergio Pérez in the driver’s championship. He has 69 points, while Perez has 54. This is the Dutchman’s second win of the 2023 Formula 1 season. It is important to note that this is Red Bull’s third consecutive win this season. Their pace is brilliant. Hence, it makes it difficult for the other cars to catch up to them.

After an intense race, Max Verstappen stated, “ We had a very poor start and then lap 1, I was careful because I had a lot to lose and they had a lot to win. The pace of the car was quick, you could see that straight away. Always there waiting for the DRS to open up and have a chance to overtake.”

“With these red flags, I don’t know. The first one you can do it, but the second red flag I don’t understand. It was a bit of a mess. We survived everything and had a good pace in the car, and we won which is the most important.” Verstappen was unhappy with the number of restarts. However, he drove well and secured the win despite the drama.

The Australian GP winner spoke about the mild contact with Hamilton. “From my side, I tried to avoid the contact. It’s quite tricky on the rules of what you are allowed to do now on the outside, but clearly, it’s not followed. It is okay now and we passed him. It’s something to take into account for the next races. In the end, we won here, and it is my first win here. It’s been a while for the team here.”

Max Verstappen had a solid weekend despite a tricky race start. Hamilton did not have the race pace to match the RB19. Sergio Pérez, Verstappen’s teammate, put on another brilliant show after his mega drive in Jeddah. He started behind the gird and moved up the fifth place. This is a strong result for Red Bull. They are leading both in the drivers and constructors’ championships.
