Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022: Schedule for Practice Session, Qualifying and Main Race
Just when the Formula 1 fans believe that they have seen it all in F1 and it cannot get any more exciting, the drama comes rolling in, with more controversy about the driver market, competition between the Championship frontrunners, and some rivalry between the team principals of the rival teams as well.
Last week’s Monaco Grand Prix saw pole-sitter Charles Leclerc go down the ranks to the fourth place while Sergio Perez proved his worth to everyone by clinching the race win. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz let everyone know that he is on the rise again as he got a P2 finish, thus earning his fourth podium in the seven races that have happened till now. And current Championship leader Max Verstappen got the third place, just ahead of Leclerc.
With such narrow gaps between all the racers on the WDC Standings table, every race is crucial now, and that is why fans are stoked for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, that is scheduled to take place in the Baku City Circuit in a week’s time.
Azerbaijan Grand Prix schedule and where to watch it live
The reigning World Champion Max Verstappen had got the fastest lap in last year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix while his teammate Sergio Perez had secured the race win. As curious as it sounds, last year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix had results quite similar to the Monaco GP if this year. Charles Leclerc had taken the pole in Baku last year, but he was usurped by Perez who clinched the P1 position in the main race.
The Baku Street Circuit is a relatively new addition to the F1 calendar as it hosted a Grand Prix for the first time only in 2017. Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo had won the first-ever Azerbaijan Grand Prix back in 2017. The Circuit is a little over 6 km long and the race will have 51 laps.
The Race weekend begins on Friday, June 10 with the first practice session for the racers. And the main race will be taking place on Sunday, June 12.
