Netflix recently hosted a golfing tournament in a tournament broadcast, and the competitors even included a professional golfer. Alexander Albon, Carlos Sainz, and Lando Norris all took part in the tournament. Sainz and Norris have been amateur golfing for years, and Albon’s girlfriend Lily He is a professional golfer too.
Lando Norris had an unfortunate disqualification in the first hole, and his former F1 teammate Sainz went on to win the tournament, along with Justin Thomas. Sainz had an unusual moment on the podium, though, as he dropped the trophy and it split in half.
The Spaniard responded humorously to the incident, saying since it broke so easily, maybe it deserved to be broken.
It didn’t look like an expensive trophy, considering it broke in every way possible. Maybe it deserved to be broken.
The incident is reminiscent of Lando Norris at the Hungarian Grand Prix this year. Norris had performed his traditional podium celebration of popping the champagne bottle on the podium steps. However, Max Verstappen’s trophy stood on the same step and fell from impact. Norris later apologized for breaking the $45000 handmade trophy.
Carlos Sainz claims Ferrari will be strong in Las Vegas GP
The Las Vegas GP is just days away, and speculations and rumors are flying around the F1 community. The track offers an unpredictable outcome, with low tyre temperatures causing a slippier platform. The drivers’ lack of experience driving on the track adds to the possibilities.
Carlos Sainz has added a catalyst to this uncertainty, saying the SF-23 is going to be quick around the Las Vegas Strip Circuit. The one-time Grand Prix winner said that the long straights and tight corners of the new circuit give Ferrari a better chance than in the past few races. Sainz compared the circuit to Monza and Singapore, where Ferrari took pole both times.
Maybe there’s the combinations of Turn 1 and Turn 2 where we will not be very quick, but then the rest of the track our cars should be better suited now than recent events and hopefully that gives us a better opportunity.Carlos Sainz said, as reported by crash.net
Sainz compared the track to Monza and Singapore, two venues where the Scuderia Ferrari did extremely well. Monza saw both Ferrari drivers tussle over third place after an impressive pole by Carlos Sainz. In Singapore, Sainz took the only non-Red Bull victory of the season, after an intense fight between him, George Russell, and Lando Norris.
