Carlos Sainz and Ferrari have struggled in 2023
Ferrari has got off to a poor start in the 2023 F1 season. The Scuderia fell way behind arch-rival Red Bull in the pecking order. Additionally, the Italian team is even struggling to match Aston Martin and Mercedes this year. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have admitted the reality of the situation at Maranello. With reliability issues forcing Leclerc to even take a grid penalty in the third round of the season in Australia.
Carlos Sainz was close to bringing home Ferrari’s first podium of the season at the Australian GP. Unfortunately, a last-minute time penalty for a collision with Fernando Alonso saw the 28-year-old drop down to P12. Sainz burst out on the team radio after receiving the penalty. Subsequently, the team asked for a right of review for this decision. However, the FIA dismissed the appeal and the penalty was not overturned.
Thus, Carlos Sainz has made it clear that he intends to remain at Ferrari. The 28-year-old had a troubling 2022 season at Maranello with the Spanish driver falling way behind his teammate. Fans slammed Sainz’s poor results online. The Audi rumors further add pressure on Sainz as he tries to focus on his present goals with his current team. As such for now, Carlos Sainz is not interested in talking about a potential switch to the German giant.
