Carlos Sainz relying on ‘Red Bull DNFs’ to catch them in the second half of the season

Carlos Sainz has claimed that the 2022 Championship is still within the reach of the Ferrari Formula One team and has asked everyone on the team to not give up.
However, the Spaniard has admitted that the Maranello-based team will require a few DNFs from Red Bull in order to close the points deficit between them.
In Hungary, questions were raised regarding the weird decision-making of the Ferrari pit wall and because of their unnecessary decisions, Charles Leclerc is now 80 points adrift of Max Verstappen.
Moreover, Carlos Sainz is lingering in the fourth spot in the standings and is 22 points behind his teammate Charles Leclerc. All this now means that even if Ferrari wins all the remaining races with Sainz and Leclerc and takes the fastest lap points and wins the Sprint race in Brazil, they cannot win the title if Verstappen finishes P2 in all of those events.
Max Verstappen has not dropped a whole lot of points because of his error this season and the races where he has dropped points have been because of mechanical issues on his car.

Carlos Sainz wants Red Bull to come up with a few DNFs in the remaining races of the season
Ferrari has got a monumental challenge in front of them after the summer break and Sainz who is well aware of the situation has said, “I think it’s clear for Ferrari what we need to do, which is to win those races Max wants to win.”
“Because obviously getting those 25 points makes quite a big difference in the points swing.”
“I think there are still a lot of things that could happen up there at the front.”
“I think there’s always a great battle going on between the two teams, which will keep going until the end of the year.”
“It’s true that maybe at some point we need a bit of help from Red Bull in reliability or DNFs but even without those, statistically if it’s open, it’s open and you cannot give up.”
The 27-year-old is not ready to give up in front of the dire situation and has vowed to fight tooth and nail till the last race of the 2022 F1 season. Sainz while dwelling further has said, “I think this is the number one rule in the sport until it’s impossible, you need to keep believing and you need to keep trying to win everything you can and trying to keep yourself in the fight.”
“Until a statistic is no longer in your power…until then, we will keep trying, keep developing as a team, keep improving because whatever we can learn this year, it can also be useful for the next few years.”
Ferrari after 13 rounds, has got a huge deficit in both the Championships, and given that there are only 9 races left in the 2022 season, the team as a whole has to work their socks off and just keep grinding until the end without worrying about the results.
Can Ferrari challenge Red Bull and Max Verstappen in the upcoming races, if yes, how much ground would they be able to make on the Milton-Keynes-based team by the end of the season?
