Scuderia Ferrari has got off to an underwhelming start to the 2023 F1 season. The Italian squad has fallen far behind arch-rival Red Bull Racing and has even been outperformed by Aston Martin. Moreover, Ferrari has failed to address the reliability issues as well as made a couple of poor strategic calls. However, Carlos Sainz continues to have faith in his team regardless of the initial hurdles to the 2023 campaign.
After the Saudi Arabian GP, the Spanish driver acknowledged that the team lacked in certain aspects compared to rivals. Carlos Sainz admitted, “It’s the race pace, it’s the tire wear.” Although, the 28-year-old declared that Ferrari has recognized the need to solve these problems. He continued, “We know that and we will eradicate it.”
Carlos Sainz voiced his faith in the Scuderia in sorting out these issues with the in-season development. The Spanish driver explained, “I have confidence in my team and trust the development plan.” Moreover, the 28-year-old was confident that Maranello will improve its prospects over the course of 2023. He stated, “I trust the conclusions we draw. I trust Ferrari,”
Lastly, Carlos Sainz emphasized that the team has not performed as per expectations in the first two rounds of the season. While also recognizing his own results. He concluded, “We were just not good enough [in Bahrain and Jeddah]. I wasn’t super strong in the first two races either.”

Carlos Sainz to go head-to-head with Charles Leclerc at Ferrari
Charles Leclerc is often regarded as the number 1 driver within the paddock. However, Team Principal Fred Vaaseur has stated that the Scuderia will provide an equal opportunity for both drivers to compete against one another. Similarly, Carlos Sainz is confident that he can outperform his teammate this season after a lackluster year in the sport in 2022.
Carlos Sainz is adamant about being up to the mark to fight for the title this season if Ferrari can improve the car’s performance. As for Leclerc, the Monegasque driver has publicly expressed his frustration after the first two rounds of the season. The 25-year-old has been at the Scuderia since 2019 but the recent troubles might force Charles Leclerc to look elsewhere.
Thus, Carlos Sainz has backed the Scuderia in solving its troubles and working its way back up the pecking order. The Spaniard is eager to finally have the chance to win the F1 world championship. Although, Sainz will have to push through the current struggles and wait till Vasseur’s team can provide its drivers a truly competitive package.
