The creators of the 2022 edition of the F1 game had an interesting dig at Lewis Hamilton in their recent tweet. Esports is quite prominent in the Formula One community, with thousands of gamers participating in the challenges that EA Sports organises. One of their challenges particularly had the fans in a frenzy. While some couldn’t contain their laughter, others were severely offended.

The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is deemed as one of Formula 1’s biggest controversies in its modern era. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton had come into the final race of the year level on points. Who ever finished the race ahead of their competitor would win the championship. During the course of the race, it felt like the Mercedes driver was going to win the championship with ease. However, this did not seem to be the case.

During the ending stages of the Grand Prix, Williams driver Nicolas Latifi crashed into the barriers which brought out the safety car. A controversial decision made by the race director led to the lapped cars between the two contenders being allowed to pass given Max the best possible scenario to hunt Lewis down. In their latest tweet, EA Sports introduced a challenge where the player has to hold off Verstappen in Abu Dhabi which seems to have pissed off many individuals.

While some fans still keep their focus on the 2021 controversy, others are excited for the upcoming 2023 F1 season. Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes are looking like strong competitors ahead of pre season testing. While Max Verstappen will be aiming to retain his world championship, Lewis Hamilton on the other hand will give it his all to finally get his 8th driver’s title.
