Charles Leclerc and Ferrari had one of the most disappointing race weekends at the 2023 Miami GP. The Monegasque driver was facing issues with the car ever since the start of the weekend. During FP2, Charles crashed his Ferrari at turn 7 and broke his suspension. It was clear from the incident that he lost traction while going through the high speed corners.

However, this wasn’t the end for Charles Leclerc. During qualifying, the Ferrari driver went on to repeat the same mistake and brought out the red flag which put an eventual stop to qualifying. This meant that the whole grid was a bit shuffled leading to him qualifying P7 and Sergio Perez getting pole position. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen’s qualifying was also ruined due to the flag which meant that he would start from P9.

During the race, Max Verstappen went on a charge and managed to win the race while his teammate Sergio Perez finished second. Meanwhile Charles Leclerc struggled during the whole race as he was stuck behind a Haas for more than half the race. This went on to showcase how tough of a start that Ferrari gone on to have for 2023. The Achilles heel being their own Formula 1 car.

Here is what the Monegasque had to say when it came to the car’s issues. “Yeah I mean, I was speaking just now with Carlos, what we are lacking is consistency on the car,” he issued. “The car is… it’s not even from corner to corner, it’s just in the same corner I can have a huge oversteery balance and then a huge understeery balance. Our car is so wind affected,” he said.

The 2023 Miami GP hasn’t been the best of races for Ferrari but that seems to be the ongoing trend this season. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have been struggling with the car all throughout the 5 races that have taken place till now. However, the team has an upgrade plan in place that could most likely bring them closer or on par with the Red Bulls this season.
