Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have never been shy to race each other hard and employe risky moves during the fight. One of the most noteworthy instances involving the two was the battle from last year’s race at Monza. Recently their duel in the 2024 season opener at Bahrain raised some eyebrows as well.

Recently the Monagasque was asked about his thoughts on the limit at which he will be battling his teammate throughout the rest of the 2024 season, which would also Mark Carlos Sainz‘s last season at Ferrari. We always try to fight to the limit, but of course we both have to take into account that Ferrari is the first thing and that obviously we cannot take unnecessary risks.

The Ferrari number 16 also confirmed how he and teammate Carlos Sainz are very honest with each other outside the car and speak about ways to keep their fights more risk-free and on the limit. Johnny Herbert’s claims Charles Leclerc and Ferrari can challenge Max Verstappen in Australia

With the 2024 season at full flow, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have finished P1 and P2 in both the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc secured the P3 in respective order on those races.

Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert thinks that the Ferrari drivers and team have showcased a good level of progress from last season. He thinks Ferrari can challenge the Red Bulls at the upcoming race in Australia.

The problem is the race situation. (Ferrari) are at least better off than they were before because their tyre deg is definitely under control. They can basically push the whole way through a race, so that's good, that's positive.
Johnny Herbert said via RacingNews365.

With Herbert seemingly feeling like the Ferrari’s improved tire wear will help them challenge the dominating Verstappen, all eyes seem to be on the race in Australia. Only time will tell whether the former F1 driver’s claims lead to fruition.
