Christian Horner gives an insight on the “bad habits” that Daniel Ricciardo picked up as he returned back to Milton Keynes
Christian Horner has shared an insight on Daniel Ricciardo’s return to Red Bull at the start of the season.

Daniel Riccardo became a part of Red Bull Racing back in 2014. Ever since then, he achieved a huge amount of success with the Milton Keynes based squad. However, the Aussie made the tough decision to leave the team at the end of 2018 to go to Renault. This later changed as he joined McLaren. After two failed seasons with the Papaya squad, he was out of a seat.
When all hope was lost, Daniel Ricciardo’s shocked the paddock as he signed with Red Bull to become their third driver for the 2023 F1 season. As there was no seat available, his duties mainly lied in PR and Simulator work. The Aussie had won seven out of his eight races with Red Bull. A comeback to the team was his chance to get back to his paddock antics with Max Verstappen.
Team Boss Christian Horner had gone on to share an insight however on the bad habits that he picked up over the years. “I think he picked up a lot of bad habits,” Horner told Speed cafe of Ricciardo upon his return. “It took some of his old engineering team to unpick some of those and very quickly, in a virtual world, got back to where we expected – and on par – with what we were used to,” he stated.
Daniel Ricciardo has signed with AlphaTauri to race for the rest of the season
A few weeks back, Daniel was supposed to drive the RB-19 during a Pirelli tyre test at Silverstone after the GP. The Aussie went on to do the same and put in some impressive lap times. His fastest was good enough to put him on the front row alongside Max Verstappen for the British GP. This in turn led to the Red Bull squad to give him a shot with AlphaTauri as he went on to replace Nyck De Vries after just 10 races.
In his first race back in the sport, Daniel Ricciardo beat Yuki Tsunoda which was a bit unexpected. Many think that the Aussie will sign for yet another year with the team when they will be rebranding. There is also speculation that Yuki Tsunoda’s no.1 driver role might have gone to Daniel. With the summer break in place, it will be interesting to see what the Honey Badger has in store for the remainder of the season.
